tip: relax with music

Massage tip: ask your MT to play relaxing music *without* a vocal track so you're not distracted by words (or bring your own CD!)

Many clients save up for weeks to spend an hour on my table.
They want to know how to get the most out of it. I always tell them: relax!

Setting the mood can be challenging for therapists. Depending on the level of clinic noise, traffic patterns, a phone ringing, sometimes clients get distracted. Music can help the massage stay on track.

I play music during every massage unless specifically asked not to do so. I avoid anything with vocals. It's simply easy to follow words set to music (mentally or by humming). If you prefer a certain CD, mention it when you schedule and bring it to your session. I use many instrumental CDs from Dollar Tree and Dollar General. Online: visit my links page for music recommendations.

Have a happy massage!

PS The opposite applies: if you're new to meditation, pick up a CD with words to help guide you. Before I attended massage therapy school and learned many meditations, the Gaiam Sleep meditation CD worked wonders for me! (currently $12.98 on Amazon).
